Technique

My sculptural wire trees emerge through a meticulous process of hand-manipulation, coaxing individual strands of wire into intricate networks that evoke the organic forms of nature. Each branch is then crowned with a carefully selected canopy of stones, whose inherent beauty and unique attributes inform the overall aesthetic of the piece. The contrast of the structured wire framework with the natural, often raw, quality of the stones creates a dynamic tension within the work.

By setting the wire trees atop a diverse range of bases – from the history-laden surfaces of antique bowls and pottery to the whimsical charm of animal-themed ceramics, the clean lines of modern vases, the tactile warmth of hand-carved bowls, and the grounded elegance of wooden pedestals – I aim to further enhance the narrative of each sculpture. The base becomes an integral part of the artwork, contributing to its character and suggesting a unique context for the miniature world held within the wire branches.
